Real Women, Real Animals, Real Images

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be showcasing women and the animals in their lives. My goal is to present to you real-life women, real-life animals, and beautiful images

created with thought and connection in a natural environment. I want you to know that beautiful wall art is achievable when captured in the natural environment of your own home, barn, and local community.

Real animals do not always appreciate leaving their comfort zones, and sometimes it is not in the best interest of the animal to have images created on location. Beautiful images can be created in an environment that your pet, dog, cat, or horse is comfortable in. Sometimes it can limit the background scenery; however, beautiful wall art is still achievable!

Shelley & Jeb

Shelley is a volunteer at the St Tammany Parish Department of Animal Services. She gives her time socializing and walking the dogs at our open intake shelter, and she is often there five days a week. Shelley has a loving nature, and it shows in her dedication to St. Tammany’s homeless pets.

Shelley’s boy Jeb, a senior Chocolate lab, was a stray. He showed up on Shelley and Will’s farm (more than likely dumped). After unsuccessfully finding an owner, Shelley and her husband Will adopted Jeb. He basically found them and stayed! He has been Shelley’s Shadow ever since.

When I asked her about participating in the project, she explained that Jeb is a gentle boy, but a no-nonsense type of guy. He is dog-friendly but selective, and she felt that he would be more comfortable at home. So that is exactly what we did! The photos were taken on her back patio, and Jeb was very comfortable and all about his mom!

Your pet's photos can be taken, even if they are not the most social beings. Beautiful images can be created without traveling to public places if that is what is best for your pet. Or, the session can be scheduled during parts of the day or evening when foot and pet traffic are low and your pet is more comfortable. Remote spots that are not well

traveled are an option too!

I think Jeb and Shelley’s images are beautiful. They were taken on the back patio, and Mr. Jeb only had eyes for Shelley!

Here are a few things to think about when debating booking a session:

  • Your pet does not have to have the manner of a saint!
  • Your pet can just be his or her self!
  • Leashes can be removed in post!

It only takes one good image for a wall!
